Welcome
to Gem City Gymnastics and Cheerleading.
In
July of 1990, when we opened Gem City Gymnastics and
Cheerleading, our goal was to develop a quality
gymnastics program that would give each child the
opportunity to develop his or her fullest potential
in a positive learning environment. We wanted all of
our students to feel good about themselves and what
they can do. We realize that everyone will not be an
Olympic gymnast, but everyone can enjoy the sport of
gymnastics.
We
at Gem City Gymnastics train and require our coaches
to both develop and practice the following
qualities: safety awareness, enthusiasm, positive
attitude, technical knowledge, high energy level,
creativity, a sense of humor, and the ability to
communicate well with parents as well as children.
Many
of our coaches have had training in Child
Development. We have coaches with a B.S. degree in
Education, further enabling them to work well with
children. We have coaches who have passed the Safety
Certification Exam given by USA Gymnastics. Our
coaches are continually attending seminars and
clinics to further enhance their knowledge and
skills, including weekly seminars over the summer
months. Gem City was one of the first gyms in the
state to have USA P.D.P (Professional Development
Program) accredited coaches.
